oh haaay!

My name is Kierra and I’m a Program Coordinator here at Rockwood, and I want to welcome you to our very first video series: Rockwood Reflections.

I am so excited about this project and to be at the stage of showing it to ya’ll! The purpose of this series is to connect and engage past and future alum. The concept started when I read quotes from alums who wanted to share their experience within the Rockwood network. I’m a visual person so I began to imagine what it would look like if their reflections were shared with movement and music. Additionally, there is a light that I see when people are asked about their Rockwood training so I knew video was the medium that I wanted to experiment with to capture that moment.

Meaghan Calcari Campbell is a program officer for the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. She makes grants in marine conservation with a portfolio primarily in British Columbia. Meaghan first attended Rockwood’s Art of Leadership training in 2007 and her trainers were Michael Bell and Toby Herzlich. In 2014, she attended the Advanced Art of Leadership training and her trainers were Maria Ramos Chertok and Leslie Sholl Jaffe.

I met Meaghan at the Advanced Art of Leadership training and she was one of my “leading forward partners,” a person or people that come together every so often to help keep you accountable to the commitments you made to yourself in the training. When the time came to come up with a plan, she was the one of the first people that I thought to interview. Her generosity with her time and story helped bring my idea to life. My hope is to continue this series with reflections from other alum across different sectors and movements.

It feels like a miracle each time someone tells me Rockwood changed their lives. Thank you Kierra for creating a way for us to see this, and to Meaghan for so eloquently describing your experience.
